Leah O’Connor has spent 14 years in public education in varying roles as a School Counselor, Director of School Counseling, K-12 District Administrator, and most recently, a Social Emotional Learning & Wellness Director for staff and students. She uses her diverse educational, professional and counseling background to support students and their families throughout the entire undergraduate admissions process.
Leah’s clients rely on her unique skills in helping students create an individual plan, execute goals in a manageable timeline, and ultimately position students’ best selves in the admissions process. Understanding how daunting the college admissions process is for families and students alike, her clients rely on her ability to help reduce stress and anxiety, build rapport, and help simplify an otherwise complicated process.
Leah is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and National Certified Counselor (NCC.) There are times when students enter college support sessions with angst and/or experience overwhelm or uncertainty in this process. This is all normal! Leah is able to sensitively support students' emotional needs in this process and often helps students work towards personal coping strategies under stress, time management skills and occasionally coach on other helpful tools that will prove beneficial in college and for the rest of their lives.
Leah has diverse experiences and expertise from working with thousands of students and families in the trenches of the college application process and throughout students’ high school experiences.
Leah graduated Magna Cum Laude from Bucknell University with a Bachelor of Arts in English and Art. She received her Masters in School Counseling from University of Saint Joseph in West Hartford, Connecticut. Leah earned her 6th year and 092 Certification in Educational Leadership from Southern Connecticut State University and is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Connecticut.
